How to create a external mail-server in MX record

This process undergoes two steps:

  • Set up your MX record.
  • Set up your email routing.

Steps to Set Up Your MX Record

  • Login to your cPanel account, then click "Zone Editor" under the Domain section.
  • On the directed page, you will be able to see the list of domains; select the one on which you want to create an external mail server, then click the Manage option on the right side.
  • Look for the MX record of your domain. If there is no MX record within the section, then click "Add Record" and select MX record from the drop-down option.
  • Once it is done, check the DNS zone files to see if the A records exist for your selected name. If not, add an A record to mail2.yourdomain.com.

Steps to Set Up Email Routing

  • Navigate to your cPanel home page and click "Email Routing" under the Email section.
  • Select the domain from the drop-down list and check the "Remote Exchange" option. Then, click the "change" option. You have successfully created an external email server.
