How to verify your domain ownership for Google Apps?

Verifying domain ownership is a safer process because no one can use your domain name to sign in to Google apps. That is why you are verifying that you are the owner of your domain. In order to do this, you have two options: one is to create CNAME records using the authentication provided by Google, and the other is to use the TXT record. Here are the steps to verify your domain ownership for Google Apps:

TXT Record:

  • Login to your cPanel account.
  • Click on the Zone Editor under the domain section.
  • It will direct you to the Zone Editor home page, where you can find the list of domains that are linked to your hosting account.
  • Click the Manage option on the right side of the domain you selected.
  • On the directed page, click on the drop-down option next to the “Add Record” option. From the list, select the “Add TXT record” option.
  • Now fill in the required information in the name field, enter your domain name, and in the record, paste the verification code that you copied from the Google Workspace setup tool.
  • Once you are done filling out the required data, click on the “Add Record” option, and your information is saved.

CNAME Record:

  • Repeat the first two steps mentioned above. Then, on the drop-down option, instead of the TXT record option, select the CNAME record and fill in the required details.
  • Under the name section, paste the CNAME host or label value that you copied from the Google Workspace Setup Tool.
  • Under record, paste the CNAME designation or target value.
  • Next, click the “Add Record” button on the right side.

Verify your code:

  • Login to your Google Apps dashboard.
  • Click on “Verify domain ownership.”
  • From the “Choose verification method” drop-down menu:
  • Select the “Change your CNAME record” option.
  • Click “Verify” to initiate the domain verification request with Google.
